With the Payster app, you can add a QR code for bank transfer payments directly to your Shopify checkout. Specifically, it can be displayed on the Thank You Page and the Order Status Page.

Payster is an app designed to automate reminder emails for payment (e.g., for bank transfers) or order pickup. These reminders can significantly increase the percentage of completed or picked-up orders.

With the introduction of Shopify's Checkout Extensibility, Payster has been enhanced with a new functionality: the ability to easily add a QR code for bank transfers directly into the checkout process. The QR code can be shown on the Thank You Page (displayed immediately after purchase) and the Order Status Page (accessible later).

How to add a payment QR code to your Shopify checkout

Adding a QR code is straightforward and requires no code changes. However, you must use the latest version of Shopify checkout, which does not rely on "Additional Scripts." If you’re not yet using the latest checkout version, follow this guide.

To add the QR code, please follow these steps:

  • Install the Payster app on your store
  • In the app, navigate to the QR code payments section
  • Enter your IBAN and the name of the payment method you want to display the QR code for (typically "Bank transfer" or "Wire transfer")
  • Go to the checkout editor – navigate to Settings > Checkout > Configurations > Customize. We recommend creating a new configuration if you wish to preserve your current checkout settings
  • In the checkout editor, switch to the Thank you page using the top menu. Then, in the left-hand menu, go to Sections > Add app block
  • From the available options, select the QR code payment block and enter the text to be displayed for the customer (e.g., "Please transfer the amount AMOUNT to our bank account ACCOUNT with the reference ORDER. Thank you!")
  • Repeat the same process for the Order status page
  • Save your settings and publish the checkout to your store
  • Test the functionality by placing a test order with a bank transfer payment

At the moment, the app only supports Czech banks and the CZK currency. If you’d like to request support for additional currencies and countries, please vote here. For unsupported currencies/countries, the QR code will not be displayed.
